Upcoming Elections

May 2nd Local Elections

The next election will be the May Local Elections. Typically, this election includes candidates and ballot measures for Cities, School Districts and other local municipal districts within our counties. This election requires you to live within the boundaries of the corresponding jurisdiction in order for you to vote in that election. If you live outside a cities boundaries, for instance, the candidates running for those positions will not be on your ballot when you go vote.

In 2026, there are no contested positions for either the Comal or New Braunfels Independent School Districts, so you won’t see either of these ISD’s Trustees on the ballot.

The City of New Braunfels will have three positions up for grabs in May. The Mayor position, as well as council member seats for both Districts 5 and 6 will be decided. Voters in District 6 include both residents of Comal and Guadalupe counties. If you live within the City’s boundaries, you’ll have to vote in the County that you reside. So before you make the trek to a voting center, make sure you know which County you live in.

Here’s a link to the City’s Election page to give you more information on who’s running, where and when to vote, and general information on the Council.

The City of Garden Ridge will have three seats on their Council decided this year. Unlike New Braunfels, where you have to live in a specific Council District to vote for your district’s council member, the Garden Ridge Council races are city-wide. That means if you live within the Garden Ridge city limits you can vote for each of the “Places” on the ballot. In 2026, Place 1 is uncontested, but there are two candidates each vying for the Place 4 and 5 positions. For more information about the Garden Ridge election, click on their webpage below.

Early Voting and Election Day voting locations will be limited this election, because there are only a few contested positions on the ballot.

If you live in Guadalupe County, check out their Election Office website HERE.

If any of the candidates in contested races do not receive more than 50% of the vote, a runoff election for the top two vote getters will take place in June.

To see Sample Ballots for the Elections you can go to your County’s Election Office website.

They typically post these within a month or so of Election Day.

Texas Attorney General – The runoff will be Chip Roy vs. Mayes Middleton

Texas Railroad Commissioner – Bo French vs. Jim Wright

Judge, Court of Criminal Appeals, Place 3 – Alison Fox vs. Thomas Smith

More Election Information

For your convenience, we’ve included some links below if you want more information on the County and State election processes.  There are also links if you want to become a Deputy Voter Registrar (so you can register voters in Comal County), or volunteer as a “Poll Watcher” in the next election.  As the name implies, Poll Watchers observe the election process and report back to whoever appointed them to do that job.
